Supply issue

One of the most useful products I use for my soaps is the shrink wrap that I package them in. It's great because I found a supplier who sells biodegradable shrink wrap. It’s not perfect, it rips more easily under the heat gun, it needs reheating to smooth it out every few months, and if it gets rained on at a market it starts breaking down straight away. BUT it’s not contributing to the plastics problem! So I’ll just deal with those down sides.

Except a law has apparently been passed to the tune of not allowing plastics to contain a degradant. So my supplier (the only one who I’ve seen who has ever stocked bio shrink wrap) has discontinued it.

I have some from a bulk buy I did last year, and my cold process soaps don’t need to be shrink wrapped, so hopefully I will be able to continue to use what I have until I can find something decent to replace it. But sustainable packaging is very important to me and I know it is important to a lot of you too, so in case I can’t find a suitable replacement in time, I want to apologise in advance for the switch away from this type of packaging. If you happen to know of another supplier, please do leave a comment or get in touch.
